| | How to Select a Phone System |
 | |
Selecting a phone system can be a daunting task even for those that have been through it before. If you know the right questions to ask yourself and others at your office, you will save a lot of time and make choosing your telephone system manageable. You can use these questions as a guide. Feel free to call us to help you refine your choices.
How many phone instruments will you need?
How many phones lines will be attached to the phone system for incoming and outgoing calls?
Will we need a PRI or T-1?
What type of growth will we anticipate over the expected life of the phone system?
Will we need voicemail? If so, we generally recommend getting a new or unused voicemail system. Many refurbished ones utilize hard drives that don't tend to last as long as you would probably like. The price on new voicemail on the NEC DS1000 and DS2000 is probably close to the refurbished packages and comes with a 2 year warranty). This is particularly true if you answer yes to the next question.
Will we need Caller ID? If so, you probably want to look at the NEC DS1000 and DS2000 new phone systems. These have Caller ID standard and price out very well.
Also will you need speakerphones?
Will you need LCD Display phones? Almost all display phones are also speakerphones. Remember, if you have Caller ID, a display phone is a must at those stations where you need to see who is calling.
